Trident Technical College is a public, two-year, multi-campus community college that provides quality education and promotes economic development in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties. This project was located at the main college campus in North Charleston, SC.

Recent events had proven the existing data room cooling system to be insufficient for the customer's needs. They were considering adding an old but still operational data room cooler in the new space. They contacted Envirotrol since we had done some work there previously. After reviewing the scope and the new data room, our solution was to increase cooling using existing resources rather than installing the old unit. This approach would save time, money, energy, and it would be more sustainable.

Prior to the changes, the data room had both units running at 100% capacity on DX cooling which required more energy. We switched the units to primary chill water cooling, repositioned the cooling tile, installed two new condensate pumps with alarm sensors, and a system that will notify personnel of any potential issues before major problems develop. The data room now runs only one cooling unit at 45% capacity, and according to our customer, "the data servers are running cooler than ever!"
