- Day One Operations™ begin with facility design support, through the construction and commissioning phase, then to final delivery through ongoing operations support.
- A successful FACOPS team consists of highly-trained facility operations staff members who are involved from day one of the construction project.
- The team has had a hand in development and has been trained in Standard, Maintenance and Emergency Operating Procedures.
- The team has been involved in the commissioning of the systems.
- Through this experience the team can confidently and efficiently operate & maintain the facility during the critical initiation of production.

- For new construction, typical facility operations begin within 3 to 6 months before construction turnover to the client.
- Facility Operators are identified and hired, oriented to site specific safety and corporate procedures.
- From this point typically begins a review of the specifications, drawings, Manufacturer's Operations and Maintenance Manuals, and finally, attendance of the contractor-provided End of Construction Training (ECT).
- As such, typical facility operations are usually the beginning of on the job training with processes and routines developed during this period which may not yield positive short term or long term results.
